Sturgeon Bay, WI

Cana Lighth. @ Newport
First dip in Lake Michigan
At Ellison Bay
lighthouse @Peninsula Park
Friday and Saturday, August 5th and 6th.  Sturgeon Bay is a small town located north and east of GreenBay (a lot of cheese heads around here).  It is located on a large peninsula jutting out into Lake Michigan.  It is called the Door Peninsula and is located in Door County.  The county got its name from the name the indians called the tip of the peninsula, which is very rocky and treacherous for crossing to some islands.  They called it Death's Door and the 'door' name stuck.  Lots of cute tourist towns including Sturgeon Bay, Egg Harbor, Ephraim, Gills Rock.  Also several nice state parks from which to dip your toe in Lake Michigan.  It was fun taking Buster in Lake Michigan.  Compared to Lakes and the ocean in WA, Lake Michigan felt like bath water.  So it was the first time I went swimming with Buster...we had a good time.  We also visited several old lighthouses and stopped to purchase some local cherries, and cherry jam.  The campground we're in is very nice...very family oriented.  It's only about an hour from Green Bay so it's an easy weekend retreat for lots of folks.  We saw 4 other Golden Doodles like Buster while there.
