Today we drove six long hours from Rapid City to Sioux Falls, SD. I-90 was open all the way. But there was long stretches of construction. We saw places where the road was probably closed due to flooding of the Missouri River and the James River. The water is still pretty high and there's large areas that are still flooded.
How hot is it? It's so hot that all of the cattle were standing in waterholes up to their necks...just standing there cooling it. It actually looked pretty inviting. It's so hot that Seattle's cloudy skies seemed pretty nice (I never thought I'd say that). It's so hot that it was 108 when we pulled into the campsite in Sioux Falls.
The campground we are staying in is at the SD State Fairgrounds. Big green fields and not very crowded at all. Apparently the State Fair is coming up. But they're just getting ready for it now so there's no animals here to view. I could enter Buster in the coolest dog contest.
Tomorrow we have a 5 hour drive to visit friends in Stillwater, MN. So it's early to bed and early to rise to get a head start on the heat (if that's possible)
