Thursday, Sept. 8th. We awoke to a cloudy day, but no rain. We drove into Youngstown for breakfast. I haven't seen such low prices in Seattle for 20 years (a western omelet for 4.49). After breakfast we drove to Niagara Falls. We walked around and saw the American Falls. Then walked to Goat island to view the falls from the other side. We could also catch a glimpse of the Canadian (Bridalveil) Falls. On Goat Island we did the Cave of the Wind tour, which gives you a different perspective of the American falls from below and slightly in front of them. They give you a disposable poncho and sandals to wear because you get very wet. It's so wet and windy that the closest platform is called Hurricane Ridge...too wet to take pictures.
After we dried out a little, we went on the Maid of the Mist boat ride that takes you up close to the falls. They give you panchos for this as well, but it's not nearly as wet as the other. On the boat we not only saw the American falls, but the Canadian falls, which are much bigger, handling almost 10 times as much water. When we got off the boat, the sun came out, which gave a different and brighter perspective to the falls. We got back to camp in time to see a beautiful sunset over Lake Ontario. A Great Day.
Because of a weak signal, I cannot post pictures at this time. I will follow with pics when our signal improves.
